Our Company History

Since opening in 2016, we've grown from a small Auckland startup to a go-to advisor for over 350 businesses and community groups worldwide. Our focus on innovation, creativity, and community has driven us every step of the way, and we can't wait to keep shaping the future of kiwi business.

  • 2016 - The Beginning

    In June 2016, Nicholson & Co opened its doors as "2SIX Media" in Remuera, Auckland, aiming to provide better support for business owners in their day-to-day operations and marketing. We started by focusing on hospitality businesses, working with local bars and restaurants. Our first major project was a web overhaul for a real estate client in Tauranga, integrating a tenancy application system that managed over 800 applications per property per week, a first for the client.

  • 2017 - Building Recognition

    In 2017, we gained recognition across Auckland and the Bay of Plenty, with referrals becoming our top source for new clients. We moved into our first office in Parnell, sharing space with prominent businesses like Ramada Hotels and Uber. We expanded into consulting and providing solutions for real estate and non-profit community organizations, extending our reach to the UK and USA through partnerships with charities on global projects.

  • 2018 - Growing & Expanding

    Our projects grew significantly in 2018, leading us to partner with ISA to bring student interns from US-based universities for marketing and business training. We moved to a new state-of-the-art office in Smales Farm, Takapuna, sharing space with businesses like Laybuy and ASB Bank. Notable projects included planning the first annual Plunket Foundation $1m lottery and consulting on a charitable community app in the USA.

  • 2019 - Community Ties

    In 2019, we completed over 1,800 projects and began working more closely with BOP communities, establishing a new base in Whakatane. Despite the volume of work, we maintained our commitment to quality and community involvement.

  • 2020 - Going Remote

    The pandemic hit us hard, but our prior investment in online capabilities allowed us to support our clients remotely around the clock. We helped clients pivot to eCommerce and online sales strategies and offered free support to community groups to assist their communities in need.

  • 2021 — Investing in Tourism

    In 2021, we set up Waihi Tours & Charters, catering to domestic travel. We partnered with i-Sites and Independent Tourism Organizations, creating COVID-friendly travel events and consulting local councils on boosting local tourism. Our efforts earned us two National Marketing Awards.

  • 2022 - Remote & Recognised

    By 2022, we were fully working remotely, focusing heavily on real estate and community work. We partnered with the Echo Walking Festival as a partial event sponsor and helped clients achieve significant success, securing three National Marketing Awards and boosting their brand visibility to top levels in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato.

  • 2023 — Expanding Horizons

    In 2023, we helped clients expand their reach to the USA , Australia, UK & Ireland and provided a new brand creation for The Better Realty Company in New Zealand. We became an official corporate sponsor of the ECHO Walking Festival and expanded our team of contractors.

  • 2024 - Looking Ahead

    This year, we aim to pivot and simplify our offerings while partnering with more clients. We're launching the Future Design Fund, a community project and grant fund to support New Zealand community groups and education providers. We're also working closely with tourism service providers to enhance domestic and international tourism numbers and sponsoring the Katikati & Waihi Beach Community Business Awards as their Marketing Sponsor.
